The Chinese squad enters the new year with a new look as the team tries to revitalize its season.
2018 gets started with some roster news in the Dota 2 world, as Chinese organization LGD Gaming announced its updated roster for the second segment of the Pro Circuit season. After a strong debut on the Pro Circuit earned the team a Top 2 finish at the PGL Open Bucharest Minor, the Chinese squad has suffered from a dramatic drop off in play. The team has finished in last place at its previous three Pro Circuit events, struggling significantly against international competition. This stretch of poor results and apparent internal issues prompted the team to spent the last few weeks of 2017 trying out new players as a precursor to an eventual roster shift.
That shift has come, with the organization announcing that Wang “Ame” Chunyu would be returning to the active lineup to rejoin Lu “Somnus丶M” Yao (A.K.A “Maybe”) and Xu “fy” Linsen, who will both be remaining with the team. Additionally, the team announced that probationary player Yang “Chalice” Shenyi would be officially joining the roster, while Luo “Sea mew” Bin would be returning to CDEC Gaming. To round out the lineup, LGD Gaming announced that Yao “Yao” Zhengzheng will be moving to an inactive position and will be replaced by Malaysian player Yap “xNova-” Jian Wei.
These roster changes set LGD Gaming up for its run through the 2018 section of the season. While the core of the lineup remains intact, the team is hoping that the addition of new talent from both China and Southeast Asia will be enough to turn around what has been a disappointing stretch of weak performances.
