The VGJ organization announced a new look for its North American division
Just a day after the news of North American squad Team Leviathan’s disbanding, fellow NA team VGJ.Storm announced the acquisition of two of Team Leviathan’s former players. In a post on the team’s blog, VGj.Storm officially welcomed Brian “BananaSlamJamma” Canavan and Jaron “monkeys-forever” Clinton to the organization as the team’s new carry and offlaner, respectively. In order to make space on the roster for these two new addition to the lineup, the team also announced that offlaner Jingjun “Snewking” Wu would be leaving the organization.
Canavan and Clinton, most recently of Team Leviathan, are both players who have experience fighting in the North American region. The hope is that the addition of these two players will help elevate VGJ.Storm to a more competitive level in the region and on the Dota 2 Pro Circuit. The team has struggled to find success so far this season, having made a single Pro Circuit appearance at the MDL Macau Minor that did not go well for the squad.
This is VGJ.Storm’s second brush with roster changes so far this season, as the team previously lost carry Ravindu “Ritsu” Kodippili at the end of November of last year. The team had been playing with stand-in players in the time since that change, but this acquisition now fills the gaps in the team’s roster on a more long term basis. The hierarchy in North America is beginning to solidify at this point in the season, with Evil Geniuses and compLexity Gaming looking like the leading teams in the region. However, this change for VGJ.Storm may just be what the team needs to push itself to that level and compete with the region’s best squads in 2018.
The VGJ.Storm lineup following the addition of BSJ and monkeys-forever:
- Brian “BananaSlamJamma” Canavan (Carry)
- Eric “Ryoya” Dong (Mid)
- Jaron “monkeys-forever” Clinton (Offlane)
- Francis “FrancisLee” Lee (Support)
- Stanley “Stan King” Yang (Support)(Captain)
