North American squad Immortals announced addition of new offlaner
Just a few days after the team announced the departure of Lee “Forev” Sang-don, North American organization Immortals introduced a new addition to the team’s roster. Arif “MSS” Anwar was announced as the team’s new offlaner, joining the previously all Korean lineup. MSS is a veteran of the Dota 2 scene, having served on multiple squads both in North America and internationally. Most recently, he played significant roles in the Team NP/Cloud 9 roster and the last iteration of the Digital Chaos lineup prior to the later’s disbanding.
For Immortals, the addition of MSS comes as a rather interesting move. While the organization might be based out of the North American region, the lineup had, up until this point, been comprised solely of Korean players. The insertion of U.S. player MSS into the mix presents a challenge for the squad, but one that may be beneficial for it in the long run. Immortals has found some difficulty on the Pro Circuit over the past few months, after what had been a strong opening to the season. The team qualified for back to back Minors and managed its first Top 4 finish at the PGL Open Bucharest Minor in October. Since then, the team has not returned to a Pro Circuit event, and its results in regional qualifiers have remained consistently behind teams likes compLexity Gaming and Evil Geniuses. With this roster move, the team hopes to not only fill the vacancy in its lineup, but form a more formidable threat to the leaders in the North American region, and perhaps return to the Pro Circuit stage.
