A new squad of international players has been formed to compete in the European region
Earlier today, free agent Martin “Saksa” Sazdov announced the formation of a new team featuring himself and four other notable free agent players. Playing the carry roles for the new squad will be former OG member Anathan “ana” Pham, as well as Planet Dog’s midlaner Grigoris “Keyser” Kallianiotis. Lee “Forev” Sang-don, who left Immortals just a few days ago, will play offlane for the squad, while former Evil Geniuses coach Avery “SVG” Silverman will joining Saksa as the team’s support duo.
The team’s lineup is not the only intriguing prospect when looking at the new Team World. The squad’s placement within the European region is an interesting development as well considering the current status of the region. Powerhouse squads like Team Secret and Team Liquid still obviously control the region at the top, but below those teams there are only a few other standouts that we’ve seen so far. Teams like OG and Team Kinguin have gained some traction in the region of late, but neither appear to have a solid advantage of the other just yet. The Team World thrown into the mix, there is the potential that we see this budding hierarchy thrown into chaos as these European squads face even more competition for Pro Circuit opportunities.
Overall, Team World’s lineup is quite impressive, as all of its players have been in the Dota 2 scene now for several years in some capacity, whether as a regular player, a stand-in, or a coach. The team may need some time to fully adjust and acclimate to its new roster, but look for Team World to compete in the European region in the near future.
