SEA veterans and young talent join forces in attempt to shake up regional scene.
The Southeast Asian region has a new competitor joining its ranks, as the formation of Team Admiral was announced today. Officially announced by former Execration member Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte, the squad is set to be formed from three players from rival SEA teams alongside two free agents.
The carry and mid roles for Team Admiral will be handled by Gabbi and former Clutch Gamers midlaner Armel Paul “Armel” Tabios. Gabbi has been a part of the Execration lineup for the entire season so far, but the team had not managed to find a way onto the Pro Circuit stage prior to his departure. Armel was in a similar position with Clutch Gamers, being with the squad for its Pro Circuit season but also failing to secure spots at Pro Circuit events.
The team’s offlane duties will fall into the hands of Ralph Richard “RR” Peñano, another former member of Execration. RR is a veteran of the SEA region, having been active since 2012 and playing for major SEA organization like Mineski, Execration, Rave, and Happy Feet.
The support roles for the new team are being handled by two free agent acquisitions in Marvin “Boombacs” Rushton and Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho. Boombacs has been in the Southeast Asian region for a few years now, most recently serving as a member of Clutch Gamers up until December of 2017. DeMoN is another veteran of the Dota 2 scene, having made multiple runs with teams across the North American, Southeast Asian, and European regions and most recently being a member of the Digital Chaos lineup. The US player will also be filling the role of captain for the new squad. We’ll see if this new squad has what it takes to compete with the top teams in the region and potentially become a threat on the Pro Circuit as well.
