The Korean carry is taking a break from professional Dota and will be leaving the Immortals roster.
Just two weeks after the addition of Arif “MSS” Anwar to replace departing offlaner Lee “Forev” Sang-don, North American squad Immortals is set to undergo another shift to its roster. This time, its the team’s carry that it will be losing, as Kim “QO” Seon-yeob will be leaving the team after announcing that he is taking a break from Dota 2.
QO has been a part of the professional Dota 2 scene for nearly five years now, having first begun playing in the Southeast Asian region but also having multiple runs within the North American region. The Korean player was instrumental in earning Immortals its first and only Top 4 finish of the season at the PGL Open Bucharest, and has been with the squad for the entirety of its Pro Circuit campaign up to this point.
For Immortals, the loss of QO introduces another level of uncertainty at an inopportune time. The team still appeared to be adjusting to the addition of MSS to the lineup in its recent matches, and must now look for another new player if it wants to continue competing. With the squad falling further and further behind region leaders Evil Geniuses and compLexity Gaming, it will need to find a quality player in a short span of time in order to avoid an even bigger deficit. With the Pro Circuit currently in an open roster period, the team won’t suffer any penalties should it find its new player relatively soon. However, at the time it isn’t clear exactly what direction the team wants to go in as it begins its search for a new carry.
The roster of Immortals following QO’s departure:
- Pyo “MP” No-a (Mid)
- Arif “MSS” Anwar (Offlane)
- Kim “Febby” Yong-min (Support)
- Kim “DuBu” Doo-young (Support)(Captain)
