TNC allegedly returning to an all Filipino lineup as its former captain parts way with the organization
Just a few short days after the team’s elimination from the ESL One Genting Minor, Southeast Asian organization TNC Pro Team announced an interesting roster move. Canadian support player Sivatheeban “1437” Sivanathapillai will be surrendering his captaincy of the TNC roster and leaving the squad following the team’s 9th-12th place finish at the most recent Pro Circuit event.
1437 joined TNC back in May of 2017, helping the SEA squad through the regional qualifiers for TI7 and playing a large role in the team’s 9th-12th place finish on the Dota 2 world’s biggest stage. 1437 has been playing with TNC for the entirety of the Pro Circuit season so far, helping the squad earn eleven Top 4 qualifier finishes, two Pro Circuit LAN appearances, and a 2nd place finish at the MDL Macau Minor. 1437 is an experienced, veteran free agent with high value as both a player and coach in addition to holding 90 Qualifying Points on the Pro Circuit. Whether he remains within the SEA region or returns to North America is unknown at this point, but 1437 is sure to attract attention from teams no matter which region he goes to.
For TNC, the move comes as part of an apparent shift towards a fully Filipino lineup, as expressed by 1437 in a tweet regarding the situation. The team has performed well within the Southeast Asian region so far, but is still significantly far behind fellow SEA teams Mineski and Fnatic in terms of the Pro Circuit standings. With Fnatic having recently picked up players like Abed and UNiVeRsE, TNC Pro Team may be feeling the pressure to make roster changes themselves, beginning with the removal of 1437 from the lineup. The team has not made any indications yet as to who will replace 1437 in the lineup, though it still has some time before the roster lock period ends.
The TNC Pro Team roster following the departure of 1437:
- Marc “Raven” Fausto (Carry)
- Carlo “Kuku” Palad (Mid)
- Sam “Sam_H” Hidalgo (Offlane)
- Timothy “Tims” Randrup (Support)
