The North American squad removes MSS, but adds two new players to reconstituted lineup.
North American organization Immortals has made yet another announcement today in what has been has been a busy month for the team. After losing Lee “Forev” Sang-don at the end of 2017 and Kim “QO” Seon-yeob just a few weeks ago, the team was in need of a new look and new players. Those needs appear to have been filled with this latest series of roster moves, as the organization announced the departure of offlaner Arif “MSS” Anwar to make room for new additions Eric “Ryoya” Dong and Kim “Velo” Tae-Sung.
For MSS, the move brings to an end a rather brief stint with the Immortals organization, as the offlaner’s tenure with the team lasted just over three weeks. MSS is a veteran player and has high levels of experience in both the North American and European regions. With the roster lock period still open, MSS should have opportunities to join another squad and potentially remain within the Pro Circuit scene.
Ryoya will be taking over the midlane duties for Immortals following his acquisition by the team. Having most recently played as a member of the VGJ.Storm lineup, Ryoya is no stranger to the current North American scene. He brings a small bit of Pro Circuit LAN experience to the table as well for Immortals, as Ryoya attended the MDL Macau Minor in VGJ.Storm’s singular Pro Circuit appearance of the season during his time with the squad.
Velo will be playing the Offlane position for the team, taking over the former duties of MSS for the squad. Velo makes the transition from the Southeast Asian region to North America, having most recently been a part of the Clutch Gamers lineup. This will be Velo’s first stint in the North American region, but the presence of the team’s largely Korean roster will hopefully provide a more familiar atmosphere for the lineup’s new offlaner. Velo has yet to see action at a Pro Circuit event this season, but with its new lineup ready, Immortals is looking to change that in the near future.
For Immortals, these most recent roster changes will hopefully be the last it makes for some time, as the organization has been scrambling to maintain a steady roster over the last month. With new rivals appearing in the North American region and old ones strengthening their position in the regional hierarchy, Immortals may start feeling the pressure to gain ground as quickly as possible. With this new lineup secured, the team is hoping to do just that as Immortals looks to revitalize what has been a relatively quiet season to this point.
The Immortals roster following the roster changes:
- Pyo “MP” No-a (Carry)
- Eric “Ryoya” Dong (Mid)
- Kim “Velo” Tae-Sung (Offlane)
- Kim “Febby” Yong-min (Support)
- Kim “DuBu” Doo-young (Support) (Captain)
