The CIS squad has made its recent stand-ins full members of its roster as it registers its lineup with Valve.
Vega Squadron has had to contend with some roster issues so far this season, as the CIS squad had lost three of its players over the past few months. In order to continue competing within its home region, the team has been utilizing long term stand-ins to temporarily fill its open roster spots. However, the team has registered its new roster today, and those temporary stand-ins have officially been registered as regular members of the Vega Squadron lineup. Nikita “Palantimos” Grinkevich, Dmitry “UnderShock” Bolshakov, and Džoni “Blizzy” Ri have all become full members of the new Vega Squadron lineup.
Palantimos has been playing as a stand-in for Vega Squadron for over two months now, having originally been brought in for the ESL One Genting CIS Qualifier following the team’s benching of its regular offlaner. Palantimos has played the carry role for the team throughout his tenure with the squad, and he will be retaining that position as a full time member of the roster. With Palantimos in the lineup, Vega Squadron has found some success within the CIS region, including a win in the regional qualifier for The Bucharest Major in March.
UnderShock has been with the team for around a month now, having served as a stand-in for the team’s runs through the ESL One Katowice, Bucharest Major, and GESC: Indonesia regional qualifiers. Prior to that he was a member of the Double Dimension lineup, but left the team in December along with two other members of the squad. UnderShock has taken over the midlane duties that previously belonged to Sergey “G” Bragin, and will continue to hold that position as an official member of the roster.
Blizzy is a rather intersting case, as his addition to the roster of Vega Squadron in an official capacity is technically considered a transfer as opposed to a free agent registration. Blizzy was previously a member of MVP.Revolution alongside fellow Vega Squadron teammate Bakyt “Zayac” Emilzhanov. However, the team has not been active for several months, and Blizzy has been playing as a stand-in for Vega Squadron for more than two months.
Overall, the Vega Squadron lineup will not necessarily change from what we’ve seen in regional competitions over the past few weeks and months, as the team is simply registering the roster that it had been playing with previously. The organization feels that these long term stand-ins fit into the team’s play style and chemistry in a way that will hopefully allow Vega Squadron to remain competitive within the CIS region this season.
The Vega Squadron roster following its registration:

- Džoni “Blizzy” Ri (Offlane)
- Bakyt “Zayac” Emilzhanov (Support)
