Happy Feet, Geek Fam, DeToNator all make roster changes hours before the end of Phase 1 of the roster lock.
The roster lock shuffling is apparently far from over, as the Southeast Asian region was hit with another wave of moves from a trio of organizations. Happy Feet, Geek Fam, and DeToNator were all involved in a move that strengthens two of the squads while leaving a third with only half of its former roster. These roster changes have a bit more moving pieces than usual, but we’ll try to get through things as smoothly as possible.
First, there’s DeToNator, the Southeast Asian organization that just announced the formation of a new lineup a little under two weeks ago. The team apparently felt that its new roster wasn’t quite what it wanted to move forward with for the rest of the season as the team moved to replace support Jose “Gio” Ramolete with Julius “Julz” De Leon, formerly of Happy Feet. The move gives the DeToNator lineup another veteran presence at the support position as the squad tries to make a move to claim a place in the hierarchy in the SEA region.
The lineup of DeToNator following the acquisition of Julz:
- Avelino “Ab1ng” Parungao (Carry)
- James Palatolon “CartMaN” John (Mid)
- Jun “Bok” Kanehara (Offlane)
- Julius “Julz” De Leon (Support)
- Joshua “Owa” Dela Serna (Support)
Up next is Geek Fam, another team struggling to carve out a favorable position for itself in the region. Following the loss of Prieme Ejay “PlayHard” Banquil a few days ago, the team was in the market for a new support player to fill out its roster vacancy. Once again, Happy Feet was the squad to lose a player, as AJ “xRag” Casanada left the team to join the Geek Fam roster. xRag is a relatively new addition to the professional scene in Southeast Asia, but Geek Fam is hoping that his addition to the team will allow its roster to compete at a higher level and become a more serious presence in the region.
The roster of Geek Fam following the addition of xRag:
- Rolen Andrei “Skemberlu” Gabriel Ong (Carry) (Captain)
- Kee “ChYuan” Chyuan Ng (Mid)
- Thiay “March” Jun Wen (Offlane)
- AJ “xRag” Casanada (Support)
- Chan “Oli” Chon Kien (Support)
And finally, we come to Happy Feet, the squad that has appeared to lose out in all of the roster shuffling. The team had already lost Benhur “Benhur” Lawis to Team Admiral last month, and today it finds its roster of four cut to just two with the departures of xRage and Julz. Luckily for the team, the phase of the roster lock period that ends today is only the period to drop or re-register squads, so the organization still has more time to add players to the roster without incurring a penalty. We’ll see what kind of moves Happy Feet look to make in the next week or so as it attempts to essentially rebuild its roster from scratch.
The lineup of Happy Feet following the departures:
- Rafael “Rapy” Sicat Palo (Offlane)
- Jessie Cristy “JessieVash” Cuyco (Support) (Captain)
