The European squad added two new players just hours before being picked up by the CIS organization.
Even more news from the roster shuffle comes our way as another squad makes some near last minute alterations to its lineup. European squad Planet Dog made two moves today, adding new players to its lineup via the Valve registration page and announcing that its new roster was being signed by Double Dimension. The two players joining the team as it makes this transition to its new organization are Steve “Xcalibur” Ye and Andrey “Mag~” Chipenko.
Xcalibur will be taking over the mid-lane duties for Double Dimension, a position that was previously helf by Greg “Keyser” Kallianiotis prior to his departure to join Team World. Xcalibur had spent most of the season up to this point as a member of the Fnatic roster, but had been shifted into an inactive position following the team’s acquisition of Abed “Abed” Yusop. Though this is the first time he has been an official part of the roster, this will not be Xcalibur’s first time playing under the Double Dimension banner, as he played with the squad in two previous Europe qualifiers.
Mag~ officially joins the roster of Double Dimension following an extended period as a stand-in for the team under the Planet Dog name. Mag~ played with the team in the Pro Circuit qualifiers for both the ESL One Katowice and The Bucharest Majors, and participated in the recent ESL One Genting Minor with the squad as well. Outside of the Pro Circuit, Mag~ was also with the team for its run in the MID.TV Challenge Cup. As he joins the roster in an official capacity, Mag~ will continue to play as the team’s offlaner. He brings experience across multiple regions, having played Dota professionally since 2010 and playing for team in the CIS, European, and Southeast Asian regions.
With its new additions in place, Double Dimension is hoping that this newly acquired lineup can compete on a consistent basis and find some success in its region. That region will apparently be the CIS one, as the organization announced that its new roster would allow it to return to the region. The CIS region has seen an uptick in strong squads over the course of this roster shuffle, so Double Dimension will find itself competing among a crowd of powerful rivals. Should the new roster display strong chemistry and a solid level of play, it has a chance to establish itself in the regional hierarchy and potentially compete for a spot at a Pro Circuit event.
