Geek Fam announce additional player departure

The SEA organization came back for round 2 of its roster changes as another player leaves the team.

Here we are back again with another story about roster changes. This time though, the names may be a bit familiar as Geek Fam announced that it would be losing one of its players. In case you’re confused, this is not an accidental repost of the post from a few days ago, as the Southeast Asian organization is losing another player from its roster in addition to xRag who left on March 7. This time, the departing player is Rolen Andrei “Skemberlu” Gabriel Ong, the team’s carry player and now former captain. The Filipino carry is set to take his talents to fellow SEA squad TaskUs Titans.

TaskUs Titans, Skemberlu’s new squad, has recently undergone some significant roster changes of its own. Around the end of the open roster period, the organization added former Execration member Ryan “Bimbo” Jay Qui and former Clutch Gamers support and captain Kenneth “Flysolo” Coloma. With Skemberlu joining the roster, the squad has a lineup brimming with experience and talent within the Southeast Asian scene, and could look to challenge some of the more established powers in the region. The team has seen action in just one Pro Circuit qualifier since the roster lock, where the team was ironically enough elimination from contention by Skemberlu and his former squad, Geek Fam. With Skemberlu on the side of TaskUs Titans now, the is hoping to see its fortunes improved heading into the next round of regional qualifiers.

The roster of TaksUs Titans following the addition of Skemberlu:

  • Rolen Andrei “Skemberlu” Gabriel Ong (Carry)
  • Ryan “Bimbo” Jay Qui (Mid)
  • Ryo “ryOyr” Hasegawa (Offlane)
  • Calro “BDz” Manalo (Support) (Captain)
  • Kenneth “Flysolo” Coloma (Support)

For Geek Fam, the move introduces even more questions for the team, as it must now replace two of its players in order to continue competing. The team is now without a carry or a captain, and while there are a solid number of free agents that the team could pick up, the concerns must be about how the team will move forward in terms of its style and strategy. These roster moves put the Geek Fam roster into a transition period, and we will just have to wait and see what the squad looks like when it comes out on the other side.

The roster of Geek Fam following the departure of Skemberlu:

  • Kee “Chyuan” Chyuan  Ng (Mid)
  • Thiay “March” Jun Wen (Offlane)
  • Chan “Oli” Chon Kien (Support)
