LGD.Forever Young return Inflame to lineup, Ohaiyo dropped

The Chinese organization announced that Inflame would be replacing Ohaiyo as the team’s offlaner.

It appears that there’s never a dull day in the Dota 2 world, as Chinese squad LGD.Forever Young has announced roster changes just a day after the end of the excitement that was the Bucharest Major. The team will be returning He “Inflame” Yongzheng to the roster following a brief hiatus from professional Dota due to health concerns. The re-addition of Inflame to the active lineup means that the team will be dropping Khoo “Ohaiyo” Chong Xin.

The move makes Ohaiyo a free agent once again, having previously played for Fnatic for the during the first half of the Pro Circuit season. With his time with LFY over, Ohaiyo will once more search for a team within the Southeast Asian or Chinese region in need of talent and veteran experience. Ohaiyo does hold 87 Qualifying Points on the Pro Circuit right now, but any team that brings him on at this stage would risk having to go through the Open Qualifiers to reach the Regional Qualifiers for TI8. For some of the more established squads, that risk may be too great, but there are likely to be a number of teams a step below that line who would be more than willing to bring on an experienced player like Ohaiyo.

For LGD.Forever Young, the roster move comes with some risks as well. The team obviously felt that it was more comfortable with Inflame on the roster than Ohaiyo, but making that change means that the squad will not be eligible for an invite to the TI8 China Qualifier. Instead, the team will have to brave the chaos that it the Open Qualifiers to advance to that main regional stage. The return of Inflame may necessitate some changes in strategies as well, as the team adjusts to working with his hero pool as opposed to that of Ohaiyo. Either way, the team is hoping that this change helps it become a better team, regardless of whether it must go through the Open Qualifier or not.

The roster of LGD.Forever Young following the return of Inflame:

  • Du “Monet” Peng (Carry)
  • Xie “Super” Junhao (Mid)
  • He “Inflame” Yongzheng (Offlane)
  • Tue “ah fu” Soon Chuan (Support)
  • Yao “Yao” Zhengzheng (Support) (Captain)
