Infamous add Matthew to lineup

The Peruvian support returns for a second run with the South American organization.

South American squad Infamous made some news a little over a week ago when it announced that it would be making a change to its roster. Elvis “Scofield” De la Cruz Peña left the team just days after Infamous secured its first Top 4 finish of the Pro Circuit in Jakarta as the GESC: Indonesia Minor. Now, the team has announced that it has found a replacement for Scofield in the lineup, as Farith “Matthew” Puente will join the ranks of the Infamous roster. While this announcement officially adds Metthew to the team’s roster, the support player has been serving as a stand-in for the team since the original departure of Scofield on March 21.

For Matthew, this will not be the first time the Peruvian support has run with the Infamous organization, having spent around five months as a member of the team back in 2017. That time included Infamous’ appearance at TI7 in August as the South American representative, though Matthew did not remain on the roster coming into the new season. Since then, Matthew has spent time on the short lived Digital Chaos.SA and its successor White Dragons. Most recently, he spent a little under three months as a member of South American squad Sacred, though he has been inactive since that team’s disbandment back in January. Matthew has seen action in a significant number of regional qualifiers in South America between his previous two squads, and had some Pro Circuit LAN experience from an appearance at the DOTA Summit 8 Minor with Sacred back in December. Matthew has already some some degree of success with Infamous in the past few days as a stand-in, as Infamous recently won the South America Qualifier for the MDL Changsha Major. With Matthew now officially a member of the team, Infamous is looking to build some momentum up heading into the final months of the season. Considering the team is not eligible for TI8 invites and will have to qualify through the Open Qualifiers, Infamous could use every bit of momentum it can pull together.

The roster of Infamous following the addition of Matthew:

  • Alonso “Kotarō Hayama” León (Carry)
  • Mariano “Papita” Caneda (Mid) (Captain)
  • Steven “StingeR” Vargas (Offlane)
  • Farith “Matthew” Puente (Support)
  • Christian “Accel” Cruz (Support)
