Resolut1on to join VGJ.Storm

After a high profile exit from OG, the Ukranian midlaner returns to North America

The North American Dota 2 scene is set for a bit of a change heading into the last months of the season, as a major roster move was announced in the region. VGJ.Storm, only recently removed from the signing of a new roster, has announced a change to its lineup just weeks before it is set to make appearances at two Pro Circuit events. The team announced today that Enzo “Timado” Gianoli would no longer be a part of the team’s roster moving forward due to purported citizenship and visa issues. In his place, the organization has announced that former OG player Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok will make his return to the North American region as the team’s new midlaner.

For Timado, the roster change comes as an unfortunate end to his time with both team and the VGJ.Storm organization. The Peruvian player had been a member of the team since the organization announced its new roster back in February, and had been playing with the lineup under the name Team IDC in the days prior to that signing. Timado’s time with VGJ.Storm brings to an end his second run this season with teams outside of the South American region, as he had previously been a member of European squad MidOrFeed until the team’s disbandment late in November of 2017. According to the team’s official announcement, Timado’s difficulties with regards to location and visas are supposedly set to be resolved within the next few months. For now though, Timado stands without a team with just months remaining in the schedule on the Pro Circuit. The question for the midlaner will be whether he attempts to return to his home region and join a South American squad, or if he looks for a spot on a squad in another region to close out the season and potentially make a run through the TI8 Open Qualifiers.

Speaking of Open Qualifiers, if now appears that VGJ.Storm will be destined for those trials as well with this roster change. When the organization signed Team IDC it retained its eligibility for TI8 invites due to the fact that the team’s new roster had been fully registered and was signed in its entirety. However, this change now appears to break the roster lock, making the list of eligible teams in the North American region even shorter. While there is a possibility that an exception may be made in light of Timado’s citizenship and visa problems, for now it seems that VGJ.Storm will be stripped of its eligibility for invites to the TI8 Regional Qualifiers. That being said, the team has still added a talented player in Resolut1on, and one that has experience performing on the biggest stages in the pro scene. VGJ.Storm’s roster change may well consign the team to an Open Qualifier run, but the team stands in a strong position to earn itself a spot i nthe Regional Qualifier regardless of how it reaches that point.

The roster of VGJ.Storm following the change:

  • Yawar “YawaR” Hassan (Carry)
  • Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok (Mid)
  • Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu (Offlane)
  • Arif “MSS” Anwar (Support)
  • Avery “SVG” Silverman (Support) (Captain)
