The Russian organization completes a move back to its home region after picking up three CIS players.
More roster news comes to light in the Dota 2 scene today, as Double Dimension has announced the addition of three players to complete its new lineup heading into the final months of the season. Near the end of March, the team organization announced that it was parting ways with three fifths of its roster in order to facilitate a return to the CIS region. Today, the team has made the necessary roster moves to complete that region shift, with Double Dimension welcoming Zaur “Cooman” Shakhmurzaev, Eugene “chshrct” Kastrama, and Ivan “VANSKOR” Skorokhod to its lineup.
Cooman comes to the squad after spending the last few months as a member of fellow CIS squad Effect. Cooman played the carry role for Effect from February up until the teams disbanding this month, and helped earn the team spots at two Pro Circuit events while attending one with the squad himself (ESL One Katowice). While Cooman and Effect in general were unable to find much success on the international level, he has shown a level of talent within the CIS region that Double Dimension hopes it can harness heading into the Regional and Open Qualifiers for TI8.
Chshrct comes to Double Dimension after having spent the entirety of the season so far as a member of the Gambit Esports roster where he was a teammate with fellow new addition VANSKOR. Chshrct wasn’t able to find much in the way of international success with Gambit Esports, as the CIS squad struggled with inconsistency within its home region and never managed to qualify for a Pro Circuit event. The did did at least manage to find some success in third party events with the help of chshrct, as Gambit Esports won three straight iterations of the ProDotA Cup Europe as well as the MID.TV Challenge Cup. Those successes never helped the team build up enough momentum to make a significant impact on the CIS scene though, but Double Dimension are hoping that adding chshrcat to its lineup will allow it to exceed the accomplishments of his old squad.
VANSKOR is also a transfer from the Gambit Esports lineup, although he had not spent quite so much time with the team as chshrct did. VANSKOR joined the squad in February of 2018, and had previously been a member of Team Empire for the 2017 section of the season before leaving the squad in December. Throughout his time with both organizations, VANSKOR was unable to attend a Pro Circuit event, though he did help Team Empire win the CIS Qualifier for the Captains Draft 4.0 Minor. By the team the CIS squad made the trip of Washington, DC to compete, VANSKOR had already left the lineup to join Gambit Esports. With his addition to the Double Dimension lineup, the team is hoping that it will be able to secure a Pro Circuit appearance for VANSKOR before the season ends. Failing that, the team’s new roster will look to prepare itself for a grueling run through the TI8 CIS Open Qualifier.
Though the new roster has only just been announced, hopes are already high for the new-look Double Dimension squad. The members of Double Dimension have already been playing together prior to the official announcement from the organization under a different team name. The team recently competed in Open Qualifiers as KpyT0E_nuKe, and managed to earn a spot in the regional qualifier for the ESL One Birmingham Major. The team is hoping that this early sign of success will help the team raise itself into a significant competitor within the CIS scene over the final months of the season.
