A string of unsuccessful results has prompted a late-season change from the CIS squad.
With only a round a month left in the season on the Pro Circuit, the roster changes have still yet to fully come to and end, as CIS organization Na’Vi once again announced changes to its lineup. The team officially parted ways with support player Nikola “LeBronDota” Popović, and in his place added former SFTe-sports player Fedor “velheor” Rusikhin. The change to the team’s lineup forfeits the team’s eligibility for invites to TI8 and the TI8 Regional Qualifiers, which means the new-look Na’Vi will have to play through the Open Qualifiers in order to reach the main CIS Quailfier.
For LeBronDota, the changes brings his run with the CIS squad to an end after about 3 months as a member of Na’Vi. In that time, the team did not manage to accomplish much on the Pro Circuit stage, with its only notable accomplishment being a 3rd-4th place finish at the GESC: Indonesia Minor in March. LeBronDota’s departure from Na’Vi will not spell the end of his time on the Pro Circuit though, as the Serbian support player was immediately picked up by newly formed squad Elements Pro Gaming to compete in the TI8 Europe Open Qualifier.
For Na’Vi, the roster moves comes as an interesting decision for the CIS team. The team’s performance both on the Pro Circuit stage and in regional qualifiers had been less than ideal since the current roster’s formation, but the losing of its invite eligibility puts it in the dangerous situation of having to fight through Open Qualifiers. However, the team most likely felt that its previous roster didn’t have the strength to perform up to its expectations within the TI8 Regional Qualifier, and the hope is that the addition of velheor will allow the team to get itself back on track in time to make a solid run in the TI8 Qualifiers. In the wake of its roster change, Na’Vi has also made the decision to withdraw from its upcoming appearance at the ESL One Birmingham in order to focus on training and acclimating to its new lineup.
The roster of Na’Vi following the most recent change:
- Vladislav “Crystallize” Krystanek (Carry)
- Danil “Dendi” Ishutin (Mid) (Captain)
- Victor “GeneRaL” Nigrini (Offlane)
- Fedor “velheor” Rusikhin (Support)
- Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk (Support)
