Days after sending 2 of its players to EG, OG has announced a new roster for the TI qualifiers.
European squad OG made a shocking announcement just a few short days ago, as the team announced the departure of 2 of its members just a few weeks before the start of the team’s run through the TI8 Europe Open Qualifiers. Offlaner Gustav “s4” Magnusson and team captain and support Tal “Fly” Aizik both left the team’s roster in order to join North American squad Evil Geniuses. At the time of those departures, the team stated that it would be reforming its roster prior to the start of the Open Qualifiers, and today we are seeing that new lineup. Rejoining the team will be former midlaner Anathan “Ana” Pham, who will be joined by Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen as the new additions to the OG roster.
Ana returns to OG after having spent nearly a year with the team in 2016 and 2017 before taking a hiatus from the professional scene. During his tenure with the squad, OG claimed 2 of its 4 Major Championships, and earned a 7th-8th place position at TI7 last year. OG are hoping that the return of a former player will give the team a much needed boost in play as well as a more familiar presence that will help the squad adjust to tis new lineup more quickly and effectively. While Ana is set to return to the team, he will be doing so in a slightly altered position, as the team has announced that will be be taking over the carry position for the team previously held by Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, who now shifts to the support role.
Topson comes to OG as a relatively new face in the professional scene, having only begun playing on a professional level back in 2017. The Finish player began the season playing for SFTe-sports in the CIS region, but the squad wasn’t able to earn itself a spot in any Pro Circuit events. His time with the team did result in some success outside of of the Pro Circuit though, as SFTe-sports was able to win back to back iterations of the ProDotA Cup Europe. In December though, Topson made a change, joining Finish squad 5 Anchors No Captain as the teams carry player up until this transfer to OG. Topson’s move to OG will see him return to the midlane position, which will move Sébastien “7ckngMad” Debs to the offlane role.
With no more Pro Circuit events left of the schedule, we won’t get the chance to see OG in official matches prior to the start of the TI8 Europe Open Qualifiers beginning June 14. However, the team’s new roster has a strong combination of veteran experience and young talent that should make it a formidable foe against its regional rivals in that Open Qualifier run.
The roster of OG following the new additions:
- Anathan “Ana” Pham (Carry)
- Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen (Mid)
- Sébastien “7ckngMad” Debs (Offlane)

- Johan “N0tail” Sundstein (Support)
