The CIS veteran and captain will be taking his talents to a new squad within the region for the first time in nearly 4 years.
The buildup of Team Odium’s roster continued today, as the squad announced yet another addition to its roster on the same day that regional rival Vega Squadron revealed a departure from its active roster. The dual announcements are centered around the same player, as Semion “CemaTheSlayer” Krivulya was confirmed to have been removed from Vega Squadron’s active lineup only to be immediately revealed as the newest member of the Team Odium roster. In Vega Squadron’s statement regarding CemaTheSlayer’s departure, it is stated that he is still technically under contract with the organization, and it is unclear at the moment whether Team Odium has manged to officially buy out or transfer that contract or if CemaTheSlayer will be playing for the team on loan from his former squad.
CemaTheSlayer has had an interesting career in Dota 2 to this point, having languished in the tier 2 and tier 3 scene in the CIS region for around a year before being picked up by Vega Squadron near the end of 2014. Under his captaincy, the team rose to become one of the stronger squads in the region, although it never quite reached the level of success or fame as leading teams like Virtus.pro and Na’Vi. The Ukrainian support and captain spent just under 4 years with Vega Squadron, and brings a wealth of experience as a team leader both within the CIS region and on the international level as well. As of now, it is not clear if he will be handling the captaincy for Team Odium this season, but regardless of his status as a captain, drafter, or player, CemaTheSlayer brings a level of experience to the Team Odium lineup that should provide it with a stable and consistent level of production at the support position.
For Team Odium, the roster has just 1 vacancy remaining as it looks to add a carry player to round out its ranks. According to another post from the team’s twitter account, there are 4 players currently being tested to potentially claim that final roster spot. As for Vega Squadron, the departure of CemaTheSlayer leaves it with more work to do to fill out its own roster before the registration deadline. The team had already lost 1 member of its roster just 2 days ago when offlaner Evgeniy “Blizzy” Ree was announced as a member of the new Na’Vi lineup, and this further announcement brings its roster down to just 3 players.
