The Southeast Asian leader will be parting ways with 3 members of its roster heading into the 2018-2019 season.
The Southeast Asian region has been an absolute roller coaster so far this offseason, with just about every major team in the region undergoing roster changes in preparation for the new Pro Circuit season. For the most part, Mineski has been able to avoid those roster changes, though the rumors around the team were swirling all the same. Today, the roster shuffle has finally hit the squad, as Mineski has announced that 3 of its players will be leaving the team. Offlaner Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang, support player Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong, and team captain Michael “ninjaboogie” Ross Jr. have all been confirmed to have left the Mineski roster, leaving the organization with just 2 players under contract.
The departure of ninjaboogie comes as no surprise in this situation, as the Filipino support and captain has already been announced as an addition to the TNC Predator lineup earlier today. However, the departure of Jabz and iceiceice was something that had only been rumored or speculated on in the time since the squad’s 9th-12th place run at TI8. Iceiceice stands as one of the most well known and experienced players in the entire Southeast Asian region, and given his extensive career to this point, it seems unlikely that the veteran player doesn’t already have a new destination lined up or in the works. As for Jabz, the Thai player does not have quite as long a list of achievements compared to iceiceice, but he has proven himself to be a valuable and versatile player since beginning his career in 2014. He has experience playing as both a support and a core in his time at the professional level, which adds a level of unpredictability that could be a significant asset for another squad in the region. Given the number of roster changes and moves going down in the Southeast Asian region, Jabz is likely to have himself a multitude of options to pursue in terms of finding himself a new squad before the roster registration deadline.
These roster moves leave Mineski with just 2 players signed, but the organization appears to have already been at work finding replacements for its recent departures. The team’s statement hinted at the announcement of a new roster for the team in the coming days, which means that Mineski may already have figured out what its lineup will look like in the 2018-2019 season.
The roster of Mineski following the departures of iceiceice, Jabz, and ninjaboogie:
Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung (Carry)
Kam “Moon” Boon Seng (Mid)
Tang “71” Wenyi (Coach)
Yamyam “Yammerz” Villanueva Yui (Manager)
