The team revealed a new roster today and will look to break into the top tier within the CIS region.
The Brestomans are most likely a squad that you haven’t paid a whole lot of attention to, as the team has been fairly deep in the tier 2 and tier 3 scene in the CIS region for most of its existence. The squad made an attempt to reach the TI8 CIS Qualifier this year, but were unable to progress through the Open Qualifiers. In the wake of its unsuccessful run and a string of rough finishes so far in regional tournaments of late, the team decided that a change was needed for the new Pro Circuit season. The team has announced that support player Vitaliy “So bad” Oshmankevich will be the only player to remain active from the previous iteration of the roster, with Oleg “Lasthero” Demidovich shifting to a substitute position. Joining So bad on the team will be carry player Dimitry “Nefrit” Tarasich, midlaner Yaroslav “Pikachu” Vasilenko, offlaner Yevgeny “chshrct” Kostroma, and support player Alexei “j4” Lipai. J4 has also been announced to the new roster’s captain and drafter.
With these changes, The Brestomans have a solid shot at moving up into a place near the top of the tier 2 scene in the CIS region, but as of right now it doesn’t seem like they are in a position to truly emerge as a top level contender with squads like Virtus.pro and Winstrike Team still in the mix. However, if the roster manages to come together and shows an early level of solid chemistry and team play, than the lineup changes from many of the other squads in the region like Vega Squadron, Na’Vi, and Team Empire could introduce enough chaos for The Brestomans to make a run to start the season and work itself into a favorable spot in the regional hierarchy.
