The Southeast Asian organization will be taking a step back from the Dota 2 scene, beginning with the departure of its lineup.
Every year in the Dota 2 world, there is a slew of squads that pop up around the time of the TI Qualifiers with the intention of making a run for a spot on one of the biggest stages in esports. This year, Battle Arena Elites was one of those teams, as the Southeast Asian organization had put together a squad in June in order to compete in the TI8 Southeast Asia Open Qualifiers. While the squad was able to win one of those open qualifiers and earn itself a place in the TI8 Southeast Asia Qualifier, it ended up falling short in that main regional qualifier with a 5th-8th place finish overall. In the wake of that performance, the organization decided that it did not want to commit to the next Pro Circuit season with its current roster, and announced that it would be dropping its Dota 2 division.
With that move, the team’s roster is no longer tied to an organization, and it appears that there aren’t plans in place for the team to remain together going into the next season. Khoo “Ohaiyo” Chong Xin and Ng “YamateH” Wei Poong have already been announced as members of the new Team Lotac in the SEA region, while the rest of the former members of Battle Arena Elites have become free agents. Considering how many teams are still looking to fill vacancies and how many free agents are still out there in Southeast Asia, it seems that the rest of Battle Arena Elites’s former roster will have opportunities to find or caret new squads for themselves prior to the roster registration deadline.
The former roster of Battle Arena Elites:
Chong “FelixCiaoBa” Wei Lun (Carry)
Vincent “AlaCrity” Hiew Teck Yoong (Mid)
Khoo “Ohaiyo” Chong Xin (Offlane)
Wai Pern “Net” Lim (Support)
Ng “YamateH” Wei Poong (Support)
Chan “WinteR” Litt Binn (Coach)
