The new squad looks to find success in the SEA region with a young talent surrounded by veteran experience.
The Southeast Asian region will have a new contender in its midst this season, as a team has been formed to compete on the Pro Circuit. The squad will go by the name Team Lotac for the time being, and boasts a lineup brimming with talent and experience that could prove to be a significant challenge in this upcoming season. Free agents Marc Polo Luis “Raven” Fausto, Khoo “Ohaiyo” Chong Xin, and Ng “YamateH” Wei Poong will make up the bulk of the roster, while Kee Chyuan “ChYuan” Ng will be transferring from Geek Fam and Nico “eyyou” Barcelon will be coming over from TNC Predator to fill out the rest of the lineup for Team Lotac.
Most of the names on the Team Lotac roster are ones that you’ve probably heard of before if you have been paying attention to the Southeast Asian scene. Ohaiyo and YamateH have been staples of the region going back as far as 2012 and stand as near legendary veterans of SEA Dota. Meanwhile, Raven and eyyou are more recent additions to the list of notable players in Southeast Asia, as they have come to prominence within the last 2 or 3 years. Between the 4 players, they claim 12 TI appearances and have participated in 11 Majors, making this Team Lotac lineup one of the most experienced squads in the entire region.
Added to this mix of veteran players is ChYuan, who is beginning to make a name for himself in the Southeast Asian region despite having only begun his Dota 2 career in 2017. He came up through the Youth squad of the Team Bazaar/WarriorGaming.Unity organizations, and spent all of the previous Pro Circuit season as the midlaner for Geek Fam. While Geek Fam never truly came into its own as a real contender in the region, ChYuan’s play was impressive for the team and he attracted a decent bit of attention to himself heading into the post-TI period. While his experience on the international level is somewhat limited at this point in his career, ChYuan has displayed a high level of talent and potential, and the presence of so many experienced players on the Team Lotac lineup will hopefully help him develop at an even faster rate. Should he mange to do so, Team Lotac has the potential to emerge as one of the leading teams in the Southeast Asian region, but it will still have to face a significant challenge in the form of the old guard like Mineski, Fnatic, and TNC Predator, along with new contenders like Tigers.
