Another mass transfer in the Chinese region has lead to the formation of a new squad to compete this season.
The offseason roster shuffle has hit hard in the Chinese region, as we are seeing just about every major organization making changes to its roster and several new squads coming into existence as well. One such organization is the newly formed Team Root, as the team announced its formation of a new roster for the 2018-2019 Pro Circuit season. The team’s lineup features 4 players that are transferring from other organizations, with Yang “END” Pu coming over from Sun Gaming, Yao “Yao” Zhengzheng transferring from LGD.Forever Young, Chen “Victoria” Guanhong moving from the roster of CDEC Gaming, and Leong “ddc” Fat-meng being sent on loan from VGJ.Thunder. The only member of the new Team Root roster to be coming from free agency will be its Midlaner, as Ye “Chosenone” Weiyang will be beginning his professional career after an impressive run through the regional matchmaking leaderboard in China.
The situation in the Chinese region sets up this Team Root lineup for a potentially strong start to the Pro Circuit season. The team’s lineup has a fair bit of experience on its side, and we’ve seen impressive, though not always consistent, performances from the individual players on the roster in the past. The fact that almost all of the other teams in the region will be adjusting to their own roster moves and changes means that the playing field may be a bit more even at the beginning of the season than it might have been otherwise. Of course, all of this is assuming that the Team Root lineup is able to gel immediately and establish a sense of chemistry and cohesion early in its Pro Circuit campaign, which is far from guaranteed. Time will tell just how much success this Team Root squad is able to find in what is a significantly altered Chinese scene this season.
