The Pro Circuit is headed back to China as StarLadder and ImbaTV are announced as the organizers of the season’s second Major
With The Kuala Lumpur Major just a few days away, Dota 2 fans across the world have been given yet another reason to get excited and hyped for this 2018-2019 Pro Circuit season, as the location and dates of the second Major have officially been announced today. The Chongqing Major will see the Pro Circuit return to Chinese soil, as StarLadder and ImbaTV will be putting together the latest in a long line of Dota 2 events from the organizers. As with the upcoming Kuala Lumpur Major, The Chongqing Major will feature a field of 16 teams competing for prize pools of $1,000,000 USD and 15,000 Pro Circuit Points. The event will be broadcast live from the city of Chongqing (hence the name) beginning on January 19 and running through the 27th.
As with the previous Pro Circuit events this season, there will be no directly invited teams for The Chonqing Major. Instead, 15 of the slots at the event will be divided among the winners of the Major’s regional qualifiers, with all 6 of the main Dota 2 regions (North America, South America, Europe, CIS, China, and Southeast Asia) being represented by at least 1 team. The exact breakdown of how many slots will go to each region has yet to be revealed, but the qualifiers for The Chongqing Major have been confirmed to be scheduled for the 25th through the 30th of November. The final slot in the field for the Major will be reserved for the winner of the preceding Bucharest Minor, which will be held from January 9 through the 13th.
