WP Gaming announce roster additions

The Brazilian organization unveiled a duo of new roster members in advance of The Chongqing Major Open Qualifiers

As the latest round of Open Qualifiers gets underway, more and more squads are announcing changes to their roster in the hopes of finding the right combination of players to advance to the main regional qualifiers and potentially compete for a place on the Pro Circuit stage. Brazilian organization WP Gaming is counted among the ranks of those making adjustments to its roster, as the team announced that it is adding 2 new players to its lineup just hours before the start of the region’s open qualifier. After losing both Offlaner Danilo “Arms” Silva and Carry Gabriel “Rayuur” Pinheiro De Morais near the end of October, the squad had a duo of roster spots to fill. In the place of those lost players, the organization introduced free agent and former Midas Club member Leonardo “Mandy” Viana as well as former Thunder Predator coach Benjamín “Benjaz” Lanao Barrios as members of the team’s new roster. With their addition to the squad, former Midlaner Pedro “Sooths” Luiz will shift into the Offlane position, with Benjaz taking the Carry role and Mandy becoming the squad’s new Midlaner.

WP Gaming is a squad that did not make much of an impression in the South American region, at least at this point in the season. The squad appeared in The Kuala Lumpur Major South America Qualifier, but finished with a 4-6 record and has not been seen much since. Most recently, the squad appeared in the WESG 2018 Brazil Open Qualifier #1, though it played with a slightly modified roster to meet with the tournament’s single nationality policy. At this point, it’s hard to say for certain whether these roster changes make the team any better, but considering the fact that the team had made so few appearances this season, it seems like any move short of disbanding could be seen as a positive sign for the squad.

The roster of WP Gaming following the addition of Mandy and Benjaz:

Leonardo “Mandy” Viana (Mid)
Pedro “Sooths” Luiz (Offlane)
Kaue “Cys” Camuci (Support)
Emilano “c4t” Ito (Support, Captain)
