Mineski wins TI9 Southeast Asia Qualifier

Mineski is TI9 bound following a wild, but successful, run against its regional rivals

The first of 6 regional qualifiers for TI9 has come to a close today, as the Southeast Asian region became the first to determine its final representative in Shanghai for the biggest event in the Dota 2 world. A field of 8 teams were all looking to claim the lone Southeast Asian spot at TI9 to join the duo of Fnatic and TNC Predator as the region’s three representatives in Shanghai. In the end though, only one of those challengers could ultimately be successful, with Mineski emerging victorious over its regional rivals to claim a 1st place finish in the TI9 Southeast Asia Qualifier. The team was able to bring down Team Jinesbrus in a hard fought 3-2 Grand Finals series completing a 11-6 run in the qualifier as a whole to punch its ticket to TI9.

With Mineski’s place in Shanghai now officially secured, the organization will shift its focus towards preparing for the event itself. TI9 in Shanghai will represent the organization’s third ever TI appearance, and its second in a row after a 9th-12th place performance at TI8 last year. The team will return to the TI stage with just 2 members of that TI8 roster in its current lineup, with the duo of Moon and Ninjaboogie once again representing Mineski in what will be their second TI appearance. Also making his second TI appearance will be Bimbo, with the Filipino Support having previously attended TI7 as a member of Execration. Offlaner kpii is set to make his fifth TI appearance in Shanghai, with the veteran player having attended TI6, TI7, and TI8 as a member of Newbee while also going to TI5 as a member of Southeast Asian squad MVP.Phoenix. As for the newest member of Mineski’s roster, Nikobaby sees his shift to the Southeast Asian region pay off in the biggest possible way, with the Bulgarian Carry set to make his debut on the TI stage in Shanghai. Nikobaby’s appearance at TI9 makes him just the second Bulgarian player to ever participate at TI, joining countryman MinD_ContRoL of Team Liquid.

The second round of regional qualifiers for TI9 (comprising the Chinese, European, and North American regions), is set to begin July, with TI9 itself kicking off just over a month from now on August 15.
