The now former members of Forward Gaming will still attend TI9 as the squad parts ways with its organization
Yesterday, a bombshell was dropped on the North American Dota 2 scene, as it was announced that TI9 attendee Forward Gaming was ceasing all operations and would effectively shut down just weeks before the start of the biggest event in the Dota 2 world. While the exact specifics of the situation will not be detailed here, the basics boiled down to a lack of funds from the ownership of the organization, resulting in the shut down of the Forward Gaming brand and the release of its Dota 2 players to free agency. Of course, the fact that the former roster of Forward Gaming had qualified for TI9 means that the players themselves will remain together for the time being, as the slot at TI9 is retained by the team rather than the now non-existent organization. Now operating under the name ex-Forward Gaming, the North American squad will almost certainly be looking for a new organization and sponsor before it takes that stage in Shanghai at TI9. The event itself is just a few weeks away now, with the Group Stage of TI9 set to begin on August 15.
The roster of ex-Forward Gaming following the shutdown of its former orgnaization:
Yawar “YawaR” Hassan (Carry)
Quinn “CC&C” Callahan (Mid)
Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu (Offlane)
Arif “MSS” Anwar (Support)
Johan “pieliedie” Åström (Support, Captain)
