Sccc to leave Newbee, take hiatus from professional play

The Chinese Midlaner is taking a break from the competitive scene to reevaluate his game and mental state

Yet another big squad in the Chinese region is looking set to make changes to its roster, as Newbee Midlaner Song “Sccc” Chun appears to have announced a hiatus from the professional scene. In a post to his Weibo account, Sccc stated his belief that his play over the course of the season was not as strong as he wanted it to be, and that he is not currently capable of playing at his best. His announcement stated that he is looking at taking a break from playing professionally, though he did not rule out a return to active play based upon how he feels about his own condition moving forward. In the meantime, it would appear that Sccc will either be removed from the Newbee roster entirely, or shifted into an inactive role within the organization. Regardless of which option the player and organization agree to, Newbee finds itself in need of a new Midlaner for the upcoming 2019-2020 season. The organization experimented with a number of roster iterations in the 2018-2019 campaign, and was met with relatively inconsistent success with those lineups. Hopefully, the squad’s search for a new Midlaner goes a bit more smoothly, and hopefully Sccc’s hiatus allows him to get himself into the mental state that he wants to be at, regardless of whether he returns to Dota 2 or not.

The roster of Newbee following the departure of Sccc:

Tan “JiaJia” Lijia (Carry)
Wen “awen” Lipeng (Offlane)
Yan “Waixi” Chao (Support)
Lu “Fenrir” Chao (Support)
Wang “Banana” Jiao (Coach)
Gao “GX” Shunxing (Manager)
