After an unsuccessful TI9 Qualifier run, the Southeast Asian squad boasts a new look for the upcoming season
Resurgence is set to come into the 2019-2020 Pro Circuit season as a much different looking squad than the one that competed in the TI9 Southeast Asia Qualifier. After dropping Louie “LJSL” James Lim at the end of August, it was clear that the team would be making some further changes to its lineup. Those changes have now been fully revealed, as the organization announced the addition of Carry Souliya “jackky” Khoomphetsavong and Midlaner Yusuf “Yabyoo” Kurniawan to tis lineup. In order to make room for its 2 new players, the organization will be parting ways with Support Clement “InsidiousC” Tan. Additionally, Charl “Welp” Geldenhuys will be moving from the Carry role to Support, surrendering his previous position to the incoming jackky.
Resurgence was not exactly a powerhouse within the Southeast Asian region last season, and these changes to its roster don’t appear to be enough to immediately move the needle for the squad coming into the 2019-2020 season. That being said, the team in its previous iteration did manage to earn itself a spot at the TI9 Southeast Asia Qualifier, so it is not out of the question for the team to take another step forward this season. The expectations likely won’t be set particularly high for Resurgence coming into the 2019-2020 campaign, but the squad will have to hope that its new roster allows it to defy expectations and emerge as a contender within its home region.
The roster of Resurgence following the addition of jackky and Yabyoo:
Souliya “jackky” Khoomphetsavong (Carry)
Yusuf “Yabyoo” Kurniawan (Mid)
Yang “Deth” Wu Heng (Offlane, Captain)
Remus Goh “Ponlo” Zhi Xian (Support)
Charl “Welp” Geldenhuys (Support)
Nicholas “xFreedom” Kelvin Ileto Lim (Coach)
